Ski Holidays Courchevel 1850, France
France

Courchevel 1850 is part of the famous French 'Three Valleys' ski area and joins three other adjacent villages (Courchevel 1650, Courchevel 1550, and Le Praz) in making up the Courchevel resort. 1850 is the largest of the villages and is the focal point of the entire area containing most of the shops and nightlife hotspots. 1850 has traditionally been a favoured spot of the Paris jet set but in recent years has seen an influx of wealthy Russians (one of which has a passing interest in a small football club in West London). Throw into the mix skiers from a host of other European countries and you get a village with a very cosmopolitan feel and flavour. In keeping with this international ambiance, 1850 has a nice selection of eateries and watering holes to cater for most tastes.
The Snow
The Courchevel ski area boasts an impressive 117 downhill runs of an accumulated total length of 150km and is serviced by 63 ski lifts. Whatever your skiing proficiency you'll find a variety of slopes here to cater for your needs. A network of lifts and pistes spreads out from 1850, which is very much the focal point of the area. The main axis is the Verdons gondola, leading to a second gondola to La Vizelle and a nearly parallel cable-car up to La Saulire. Both the high points give access to a wide range of intermediate and advanced terrain. Snowboarders wishing to polish their tricks and skills are not forgotten here either with no fewer than four terrain parks to play in.
Après ski
Visitors to Courchevel 1850 can choose from a plethora of après ski options from pubs, discotheques and piano-bars, to concerts, live DJs and theme evenings. Among the more exclusive spots is 'The Caves' where punters can enjoy performances from top Paris cabaret acts! If you're eager to liaise with the opposite sex you could try 'The Saulire' or 'Potiniere' which are quite lively in the evening. The resort also has cinemas showing English-speaking films. Other activities on offer include hand-gliding, ice karting, tobogganing and hot-air ballooning.
