FactsMoney: The unit of Currency is the LEV. 1 Lev is equal to about 50 cent or 35 pence. Shop around for the best exchange rates in resort. Credit cards are not as widely accepted as other destinations, and commission rates may be higher than normal. Due to frequently high inflation rates in Bulgaria, it is recommended to pre book your ski packs before you travel.
Food: From Pub Grub to Pastas, Bulgarian restaurants cater for all nationalities and tastes. With the gateway to Asia close by, Turkish food is a favourite amongst the locals. A 3 course meal will set you back about €10.00 or £7.00 Menus may be in Cyrillic, but don’t worry; most restaurants have English versions as well.
Drink: Bulgarians love their red wine & their 'rakiya' (plum or grape brandy) But if you prefer to stick to what you know, expect to pay about €2.00 or £1.40 for a large beer.
Language: The official language of Bulgaria is Bulgarian, but English is spoken as well.
