Located in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, overlooking lake Tahoe and straddling the state line between California and Nevada, this resort is like no other in the world. Few ski resorts match Heavenly's superior scenic beauty and optimum skiing climate, where you can anticipate over 360 inches of snow and 300 days of sun a year! What really sets this resort apart, however, is that its economy is driven by gambling. The stateline area at the centre is dominated by a handful of monstrous hotel-casinos located just inches on the Nevada side of the line. Along with the gambling, these establishments also offer some big name entertainers from the world of music, circus comedy. Now you won't find that in your typical resort!

The Snow

You're guaranteed to find a challenge, whatever your skill level. Heavenly has 27 lifts and 82 runs, offering 4,800 acres of true skiing and riding diversity. With a base elevation of 6450 feet and a summit of 10,040 feet, Heavenly's vertical drop of 3590 feet offers a mountain descent of 5.5 miles! Most of Heavenly's slopes suit intermediates best, but there are also good beginner slopes. Experts can find genuine challenges on the Nevada side as well as lots of fun in acre upon acre of widely spaced trees. Snowboarders will find that Heavenly is one of the best carving and free-riding mountains in the country. Local boarders have long considered Heavenly to be the ultimate mountain and a perfect place to learn or to sharpen your skills.

Après ski

Unique and extraordinary are two words to sum up the après ski in Heavenly. Aside from the usual mix of bars, clubs and restaurants, the Casino style hotels host top name pop and jazz stars, comedians, and circus acts. Alternatively you could take in the scenery with a hot air balloon ride or enjoy an evening dancing and dining in an authentic paddle steamer on the lake.
