Söll (without the dots) is the German word for 'should' and we recommend that holidaymakers looking at making a trip to Austria this winter should not let this resort slip outside their radar-screens. Söll alongside its neighbour Itter form the very heart of the Austrian ski resorts and are also part of the Ski Welt system with access to 250km of marked piste via 94 lifts or chairs. At the nucleus of Söll is the church with a Russian-like onion as its dome and like an onion the night life in Söll will make you cry (with happiness) when you peel at it since the fun and the buzz are most certainly to be found at this alpine location.
If, like most travelling groups of the non-musical variety you are blessed with holidaymakers with mixed experience, then the skiing in Söll is suitable for you. From downright appalling to down right angle (black slope beasts), Söll and Itter can cater for you through one of their 128 'Ski Welt' runs. Intermediates can check out the tree lined or wide slopes for their favourite colours of red or blue and snowboarders are also catered for through a series of half pipes and a fun park.
If, when on holiday, igniting candles at both ends is your bag then pack your energy pills and some Red Bull and head for Söll, which is the Ibiza of winter resorts. There is a massive barrel shaped pub called Whiskey Mühle at where go-go dancers appear at the weekends! Apart from drinking there is an outstanding sports centre as well as natural lake skating, curling (ha ha), bowling and night skiing, which is less dangerous than it sounds.
