Saas Grund, situated in the mountains and close to a skiing area, it lies 1560m above sea level and has 1300 inhabitants. Here, a wide variety of winter sports facilities are available, some of the more adventurous including waterfall climbing, off-piste hinterland skiing, traversing the Alpine Gorge, and mountaineering and hinterland skiing trips with the 'Weissmies' mountaineering school. Saas Grund is a real hiking paradise for people of every age: more than 330km of marked hiking trails, the famous Saas Alpine trail.
